This specimen is kept for the pattern: a living mosaic of white trichomes that gathers across the ribs until the plant reads like a small stone dusted with snow. The Snow Type belongs to the cultivated Japanese Astrophytum tradition, where surface character is selected, propagated and compared as carefully as body shape.

An important visual anchor for the collection: it records the extreme expression of surface ornamentation in Astrophytum asterias and gives us a reference point for comparing Onzuka, Kikko, Hakuun and other patterned forms.
